In January 2023, SUZHOU NMT BIOTECH CO.,LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "NMT") and Canada's North Farms Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "North Farms") will complete a five-year agricultural experiment on 5-ALA planting bell pepper and other crops in greenhouse and carry out corresponding commercial cooperation. The effective substances and fertilizer formula technology (named Pre-C) of this experiment will be provided by Namite.
5-ALA is an amino acid derivative widely present in animal and plant cells and microorganisms. The full name is 5-ALA, also known as 5-amino-4-ketovaleric acid. Its history can be traced back to the beginning of Earth's biological formation billions of years ago, but as an endogenous substance, it was not discovered by scholars at the University of Michigan in the United States until the 1960s.
5-ALA is an important intermediate in the synthesis of pyrrole compounds; It is a naturally occurring functional non protein amino acid in living organisms; It is an essential precursor for biosynthesis of heme, chlorophyll, vitamin B12 and other tetrapyrrole compounds, and has an important impact on plant photosynthesis and cell energy metabolism.
In the past 5 years of experimental results, the average coloring rate and color conversion rate of Lantern Pepper have significantly improved, and the growth promoting rate has also reached a significant difference compared to the CK group, proving that this product has good coloring and growth promoting effects among crops of related genera.
While obtaining relevant experimental results, both parties reached an agreement on further strengthening the promotion and utilization of biostimulants with 5-ALA as the core in North America and the reuse of related resources, and conducted a 5-year commercial cooperation. It is reported that the commercial value of the project cooperation will exceed ten million US dollars.
This project will enhance the influence of North Farms in the carbon reduction program of the Ontario Environmental Protection Department in Canada, and expand agricultural product trading in the Chinese region. Through this cooperation, NAMET has further opened the international market, increased its market share of related products in the field of synthetic biology at home and abroad, and further improved the scientific and technological influence of 5-ALA agricultural means of production in agriculture. It is reported that NAMET plans to open the use right of Pre-C formula technology to customers in Chinese Mainland for free.
