Liu Weiqin, Kang Lang, Wang Liangju, College of Horticulture, Nanjing Agricultural University, published the article "The effect of ALA on strawberry photosynthesis and its relationship with antioxidant enzymes". The effects of 5-ALA (ALA) on photosynthetic performance, fruit yield and quality of strawberry were studied.

  1. Effects of ALA treatment on photosynthetic characteristics of strawberry leaves

  2.jpg

It can be seen from the table that 100 ~ 600 mg/L ALA can increase the Pn of strawberry leaves in different degrees compared with the control, among which 100 mg/L ALA treatment has the best effect, and Pn is 124% higher than the control. ALA treatment had a tendency to increase the apparent quantum efficiency (AQY) and dark respiration rate (Rd) of strawberry leaves, but did not reach a significant level, while 100 mg/L ALA treatment significantly increased the fusing efficiency (CE) of leaves and the maximum regeneration rate of RuBP. On the contrary,ALA treatment significantly decreased the light respiration (sing) of strawberry leaves, but had no significant effect on the photosynthetic light compensation point and CO2 compensation point.

  2. Effects of ALA treatment on photosynthetic pigments in strawberry leaves

  3.jpg

It can be seen from the table that 100 mg/L ALA can significantly increase chlorophyll content and chi b/a ratio in strawberry leaves. In terms of chlorophyll, after ALA treatment, the chia content increased by 30%, the chl b content increased by 43%, and the chl b/a ratio increased by 74%. Obviously, ALA promoted the formation of chl a more significantly. However, there was no better effect of ALA treatment at higher concentrations, suggesting that 100 mg/L ALA treatment is a more appropriate concentration for strawberries.

  3. Effect of ALA treatment on chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics of strawberry leaves

As can be seen from the results of photosynthesis determination in the table above, the promotion effect of 100mg/L ALA treatment on Pn is the most obvious, so the effect of ALA treatment at this concentration is mainly analyzed in chlorophyll fluorescence determination. As a whole. Exogenous ALA treatment did not affect spirits, but inhibited spirits at high light intensity. The increase indicated that ALA treatment enhanced the ability of strawberry to resist strong light stress. The results showed that the promotion effect of exogenous 5-ALA on strawberry photosynthesis was also related to the enhancement of oxidase activity. The results showed that 30 mg/L ALA could significantly increase the net photosynthetic rate of strawberry leaves, and 100 mg/L ALA could significantly increase the chlorophyll content and chi b/a ratio of strawberry leaves. In terms of chlorophyll, after ALA treatment, the chia content increased by 30%, the chl b content increased by 43%, and the chl b/a ratio increased by 74%. Obviously, ALA promoted the formation of chl a more significantly. Moreover, ALA treatment also enhanced the ability of strawberry to resist strong light stress.
